Attention: Dario Frommer, Appointments Secretary
Re: Director/Deputy Director of the Department of Developmental Services
Dear Governor Davis:
This is to support the application of Phillip Campbell and Dr. Mary Cerreto for the positions of Director and Deputy Director of the Department of
Developmental Services.
- Mr. Campbell and Dr. Cerreto are people that will support you and lead California in establishing responsive and cost-effective community services, especially
for those now living in developmental centers. We know there is a great diversity of opinion from advocates in our system as to where people should live. We
believe these candidates can work with this diversity and prove instrumental in developing a model system that supports all people with developmental
disabilities.
- The California Alliance for Inclusive Communities was founded by families and service providers throughout California. The tenet of our founding is a
commitment to people with developmental disabilities that will afford them full participation and opportunities to contribute to their communities, with
individualized services and supports that assure health, safety, and well being. After researching their experiences as Commissioner and Assistant
Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Mental Retardation, we understand Mr. Campbell and Dr. Cerreto are dedicated to achieving this goal. As a
team, they have faced many issues that California''s developmental disability service system is now facing.
We appreciate your consideration on the appointment of Mr. Campbell and Dr. Cerreto to the Department of Developmental Services.
Sincerely,
- Terry Boisot
- President
