Re: Director/Deputy Director of the Department of Developmental Services

Dear Governor Davis:

This is to support the application of Philip Campbell and Dr. Mary Cerreto for the
positions of Director and Deputy Director of the Department of Developmental Services.

I have been very impressed with the values and experience of these two individuals.
Although I do not know either of them personally, I have been aware of their success in
Massachusetts and elsewhere.

My interest comes as the parent of a 40 year old daughter with a developmental
disability. I have been involved in California's developmental disabilities system for over
30 years, having served on both Alta California Regional Center's board and
Developmental Disabilities Area Board III as well as the State Council on Developmental
Disabilities. My wife and I have been active in developing resources here in Yolo
County and helped start Yolo Employment Services, Summer House and Vocational
Training and Employment. My major interest, now that I am retired, is supporting
persons with developmental disabilities to become good self advocates.

This is all to say that I believe I am knowledgeable about the needs and issues facing the
DD system in California. It is my belief that Philip Campbell and Dr. Mary Cerreto
would do an excellent job in meeting those needs and solving the issues facing us.

While you are undoubtedly considering other worthwhile candidates, I believe that these
two individuals would be the best choice.

Thank you for your consideration of the above.

Sincerely,

Bob Little
